Types of Disabilities

Often people disabled by cancer have a difficult time obtaining disability benefits. One reason for this in that in order to be entitled to benefits, a person must be disabled for 12 continuous months. Often a person with cancer has chemotherapy and or radiation, but this treatment ends before 12 months pass and they are able to return to work.

Another reason is that some people are very ill with chemotherapy, and other is not ill at all. Social Security would wait to see how a person is affected. A person with cancer would need to show that the cancer, or treatment for it affects them in such a way that they cannot work for 12 months or more. However, if a person shows that their cancer has metastases, then they are usually accepted as disabled.

These complications in Social Security's diagnosis of whether a person is eligible make it necessary for you to seek legal advice to ensure that you do obtain your Social Security Disability. Contact the Disability Group as soon as possible. We will help to review your medical records, file your claim and go through the disability process so that you win your disability claim when you need it most.
