Cerebral Palsy
Types of Disabilities
Cerebral palsy is a term used to describe a group of chronic conditions affecting body movement and muscle coordination. It is caused by damage to one or more specific areas of the brain, usually occurring during fetal development; before, during, or shortly after birth; or during infancy. It is believed that disorders are not caused by problems in the muscles or nerves but rather through faulty development or damage to motor areas in the brain, which disrupts the brain's ability to adequately control movement and posture.
Cerebral Palsy is a term used to describe a group of chronic conditions affecting body movement and muscle coordination. It is caused by damage to one or more specific areas of the brain usually occurring during fetal development before, during or shortly after birth, or during infancy.
Symptoms of Cerebral Palsy range in severity. Some individuals might have difficulty with motor tasks such as writing while others might experience trouble maintaining balance and walking.
Cerebral Palsy can cause involuntary movements such as uncontrollable motions of the hands.
Applying for Social Security Disability for Cerebral Palsy can be a long and frustrating process with many denials from the Administration. It is strongly suggested that you retain a lawyer as soon as possible to help you with the intricacies of medical record required for your claim, and for legal assistance to guide you through the Appeals process to where you will be able to win your Social Security claim for benefits.
